Nocturne is a unique commission by artist Nayan Kulkarni which will create an ever-changing colour and light installation on the 360-metre QEII Metro Bridge between Newcastle and Gateshead.
State-of-the-art low-power LED lighting and a new colour scheme will transform the bridge into a new landmark at one of the busiest gateways to Tyne and Wear – but consume less power than the average family home.
The huge scale of the bridge makes Nocturne one of the largest permanent art installations in the UK.
The finished work will be seen by more than eight million people who use the neighbouring King Edward VII railway bridge every year, as well as millions more road users and visitors to the NewcastleGateshead quaysides and surrounds.
