When this park first opened in 1876, it was known as The People’s Park and was designed to give the impression that it stretched as far as the eye could see.
Today, following a £10 million restoration project, it has been restored to its former splendour, winning numerous awards along the way.
Sprawling over 55 acres, the park encompasses landscapes, woodland, ornamental gardens, play areas, bowling greens, an animal house, a lake and a maze.
At the heart lies Saltwell Towers once a Victorian mansion, this Grade II listed building is now a visitor centre and café.
