Shepherds Hut

About

This interesting and beautiful Shepherds Hut really does offer a holiday with a difference. Not only is the hut itself decorated to a fantastic standard, the surrounding area is just idyllic. Situated in the heart of the Derwent Valley with open countryside on its doorstep, the perfect ‘glamping’ experience is just waiting for you! Whether you are looking for a rural hideaway, a break for two or even a family trip, Shepherds Hut is the ideal getaway.

If you enjoy fly fishing, you could not pick a better spot! The river Derwent is literally moments away from the hut and is fantastic for Salmon and Trout, permits are available locally just ask on arrival. Wildlife is in abundance here, from Red Kites which are renowned in the area, (there’s even a nest on the owners farmland!), to Deer which often roam through the field. You really won’t be short of things to see at The Shepherds Hut.

The owners also welcome horses, so if you would like to bring your trusty steed on holiday too you can! There are stables, an arena and a paddock available for use at the additional fee of £12 per day. The Derwent Valley offers the perfect ride out, with scenic views which just cannot be beaten.

Hagg Hill has a tearoom open Thursday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays, serving a delicious array of pastries and cakes – you really must visit during your stay. You can also have a peek inside the glass studio where locally renowned and very talented glass artist Rena Holford creates some truly stunning glass work, you might even want to pick up a piece as a holiday souvenir.
