The International Ferry Terminal at Royal Quays, North Shields is only 7 miles (11km) east of Newcastle city centre. It's the North of England's main sea link with Northern Europe.

DFDS Seaways operate daily overnight services from Amsterdam (IJmuiden) in Holland throught the year. Short mini cruise breaks and longer holidays to the UK are available.

Travel as a foot passenger or bring your own vehicle. IJmuiden can be easily reached from the rest of Holland, and also from Belgium, Denmark and northern Germany and France.

Buses operate from the terminal to Newcastle Central Station and the journey takes around 30 minutes. The nearest Metro station is Percy Main - a 15 minute walk from the terminal.
