EAT! Carter
A once in a liftetime opportunity to experience panoramic views from the restaurant that never was.
Please note: EAT! Carter is relatively rain-proof but UK law prevents lifting above a certain wind speed. As wind speeds change frequently, any decision to cancel a lift must be made at short notice. Cancellations will be announced on this web page and customers telephoned wherever a number has been provided. Alternative dining arrangements have been made wherever a lift cannot take place, or a full refund is available if diners do not wish to take up these alternative arrangements.Update: Wind speed is currently fine for EAT! Carter and the outlook for the remainder of the day is good. Currently all events on Sat 9 May are scheduled to go ahead as planned.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide you with up-to-date reports here throughout the day.
In EAT! Carter guests will dine in the sky, suspended at the same height as the restaurant on top of the Gateshead Trinity Car Park. This restaurant has stood empty for 40 years but captured huge public attention through its association with the cult film Get Carter. EAT! Carter promises to be exciting, exhilarating and a little nerve wracking, and is for those with a head for heights and an adventurous spirit.
There are four different ways to experience EAT! Carter. The Lunch and Dinner sessions involve four great local restaurants serving food with a 70's twist. Liquid Bred with award-winning food and drink journalist Alastair Gilmour will take an audience on an entertaining journey through a unique selection of beers from the region's breweries. High Tea takes on a whole new meaning with A Cup of Tea and Slice of Cake courtesy of Belle & Herbs.
