The Great North Eco Feast

The Great North Eco Feast

The Great North Eco-Feast 2009 with Arthur Potts-Dawson

The UK's leading eco-restaurateur Arthur Potts-Dawson returns to his North East roots to create an epic eco-feast with Terry Laybourne of Jesmond Dene House.

The banquet will be prepared following thegreen principles championed by Arthur at his famous London restaurant, Acorn House. Ingredients will be supplied by some of the shining lights of environmentally friendly producers such as Lindisfarne Oysters, Heatherslaw Corn Mill and Carroll's Heritage Potatoes. Foraged ingredients will also be featured. All packaging will be reused or recycled, all vegetable waste composted, water is courtesy of Northumbrian Water, cask ale is local (there will be no wine), and the herbs and flowers come from Jesmond Dene Nursery next door. Even the industrial dishwashing liquid will be bio-degradable.

And guests must play their part too. You are requested to arrive by public transport or under your own steam and absolutely no waste is allowed - eat it or take it home! Introduced by Arthur, the convivial and unfussy feast will be laid out in opulent style and will feature rousing entertainment and romping live music.

The special ingredients for this event will be gathered by Arthur, Terry and local forager James Burton who will take a bus trip around the region visiting some of the shining lights of environmentally friendly food production. They will be accompanied on their trip by a dozen young and student chefs who will re-unite to cook tonight's feast.
