Favella to the World

AfroReggae is a cultural group from the favellas of Rio de Janeiro, which works with the city's poorest communities transforming the lives of young people through arts-based activities. This performance includes performers from NewcastleGateshead and promises to be loud, colourful and jam-packed full of energy and life.

The Cultural Programme for the Olympics
All Ages
On Thursday 18 September, the UK becomes the host nation for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. For the next four years there will be loads of different things happening across the North East that have been inspired by the Olympic spirit. During the launch weekend get involved with a variety of great activities including backstage tours of the BBC, outdoor boxing rings, kite making, a science circus and knitting patterns from outer space.
