Stottie Sandwich Competition and Demonstration
BALTIC, Sat 16 August, from 1.30pm - 4pm
Come along and see a demonstration of how to make a traditional stottie; learn how to add some Japanese touches to your sandwiches, or you can enter your own favourite homemade stottie sandwich in the competition. The winning sandwiches will be made and sold in the BALTIC Café Sat 23 – Mon 25 August.

Gourmet Picnic Demonstration
Blackfriars, Friars Street, Newcastle, Tue 19 August, 11.30am
Tickets £15 pp (including aperatif, talk, demo and picnic)

Join us at Blackfriars on Tuesday 19 August where there'll be a discussion on the history of the picnic and the Tokyo Picnic Club and Blackfriars will give you an insight into how its chefs prepares Blackfriars' picnics, plus a few ideas to take away with you.

Blackfriars has long been known as a place to enjoy a fabulous summer picnic made to order from its award-winning chefs; so although you can already enjoy a fabulous Blackfriars Picnic at any time all through the summer (click here for details), the visit of the BABYPLANES has given Blackfriars the opportunity to host this special event.

AGENDA

11.00am A glass of chilled white wine and a chance to mingle and chat

11.30am History of the picnic and TPC followed by a short demonstration

12.30pm Picnic time! Feast yourselves on a specially prepared picnic (made by our very own chefs) on the BABAYPLANES, grass or tables depending on your preference (inside if raining)

Culture Club members each receive a £5 voucher towards a future picnic at Blackfriars.

Tokyo Picnic Club has declared this as ‘Take your picnic to work day’. Grab your picnics and your colleagues and have your lunch outside, in the city centre, on a BABYPLANE.

Picnic Box Decorating Workshop

Decorate your very own Tokyo Picnic Club picnic box. Go wild with your imagination and then bring your box and your picnic with you on Mon 25 August to enter in the ‘Picnic of the Year’ competition.

"Picnic of the Year" Contest
MOTHERPLANE, Baltic Square, Mon 25 August, from 12 noon - 5pm

Spies from Tokyo Picnic Club will be inspecting your picnic, looking for the best picnic hamper and food. The winners will be announced at 4pm and will be awarded a luxury hamper of wonderful local produce.

BALTIC Family workshops
To coincide with Picnopolis, BALTIC freelance artist Paul Merrick will lead family workshops inspired by picnics. These workshops are part of BALTIC’s Family Programme for families to drop into Quay and work with an artist to create their own artwork inspired by BALTIC’s exhibitions every Monday to Friday during the summer holidays.
Suitable for children 12 years and under with their families. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
