Sinéad O’Connor plus support – Tuesday 22 July,7.30pm, Hall One
Both icon and iconoclast, Sinéad O’Connor has been making music, rejecting stereotypes and defying expectations for more than twenty years, including her number 1 single ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’. The Sage Gateshead is delighted to welcome an artist famed for such purity of voice to perform a stripped-back concert.

Strike Up The Band, Northern Sinfonia, John Wilson: Conductor, Kim Criswell: Vocalist, Gary Williams: Vocalist – Wednesday 23 July, 7.30pm, Hall One
A concert of works by one of the quintessential American composers, George Gershwin, with songs from shows and movies including ‘The Goldwyn Follies’, ‘Shall we Dance?’, ‘Girl Crazy’ and ‘Strike up the Band’, and also ‘Love is Here to Stay’, ‘Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off’, ‘But Not for Me’ and ‘’S Wonderful’.

Rogue’s Gallery – Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys – Thursday 24 July, 7.30pm, Hall One
Songs about drinking, death, women, pirates and the sea – with a twist of folk, punk, alt-country, blues, pop and more from an eclectic group of top artists, including Teddy Thompson, Gavin Friday, David Thomas, Julie Fowlis, Baby Gramps, Ed Harcourt, Rachel Unthank & The Winterset, Robyn Hitchcock and Jenny Muldaur, produced by maverick producer Hal Willner.
